5th Grade. What is energy?

Energy is the ability of an object to move, heat up or produce light. Energy also makes objects move faster, or change direction. For example, people use energy to move and to keep warm. We get the energy we need from the food that we eat. Inside our bodies, the energy in food is transformed and enables us to move our muscles and produce heat.
